Thought Hairballs Were For Cats Not Computers

While working on gaming desktop we came across what can only be described as a computer hairball!!

Computer Hairball - not good

This is a large mouse so the hairball is chunky!

I've included a computer mouse in the image to give you a reference for the size of the hairball.

We removed the computer hairball from the front air in-take of the gaming desktop and no surprise that the gaming computer now runs significantly better in that it is now stable and the cooling fans are not running constantly at full revs.

So if your computer is a wee bit under the weather or just plain sick, bring it in to our computer repair shop in Perth for a free consultation.

Liquid Spills on Laptops

3 machines brought in today suffering from spills onto the keyboard :(

One wine, one coffee and one milk.

Prompted us to write this article http://www.pcsolutions.co.uk/news/how-to-recover-your-laptop-from-a-coffee-or-liquid-spill.html

In the event that any liquid gets spilt on your laptop or computer, DO NOT SWITCH IT ON but bring it into our computer and laptop repairs facility where we can assess the damage at no charge.

More Hours Means More Free Coffee

With the computer repair workshop being open until 6.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings, it means that we'll be able to get more of the longer more complex repairs done in one working day rather than having to split them over 2 working days.

It also means that The Boss will have to supply more free coffee!!!

Computer Engineer's Delight

There were nearly fisty-cuffs in the workshop when a long standing customer asked if our engineers could have a look at fixing her grandson's Christmas present:

A quick check revealed that the aerial for the remote control unit had become detached so the problem was very quickly solved.

However, as I'm sure you will appreciate, the testing took a bit more time to complete :)

I would confirm that present has been returned to owner!

Hard at Work in Perth Computer Repair Center

Alex our Special Tech Engineer hard at work (a rare sight) today on a busy computer repair bench in Perth.

Computer hygiene

External and internal computer hygiene is important to maintain the very important air cooling for your computer.

We have 2 examples in the Perth Computer Repair Center at the moment of computers  that have 'cooked'

As the air flow has been slowly restricted, so the computers internal temperature has risen and all the components stressed. Over time, this can lead to motherboard or critical component failure which could result in the computer being uneconomic to repair.

Please DO NOT take the hoover or Dyson near the internals of the machine! Gentle compressed air only but to be honest, best to take it to your local computer repair center.

If you see this, it means that your hard disk is failing big style and in fact it might be pass the point of no return.

Best thing to do is get it down to you local PC shop and see if they can recover the data .

Dead Desktop Computer

A desktop was brought in today non booting. Owner in major panic as accounts over due and no back up.

Working to see if we can talk to the hard drive.....

Talking to the drive now after much ado. Now to see if we can extract the data

Well we got the old drive working and have now cloned the data onto a brand new drive so the system is a good as new.

The client is going to do a back up!!!
